Blanket Gravity Magazine
Every month I try to submit a few short pieces for publication. Last spring I wasn’t doing a very good job at hitting that goal. A medical revelation cropped up and I was locked in a frenzy of research, doctor appointments, assessments, and more doctor appointments. I didn’t have the energy or enthusiasm to do much writing or submitting.
Blanket Gravity Magazine calls itself ‘art to struggle to’. They publish fiction, nonfiction, and artwork with a mental health theme. When I found out what they were looking for, I impulsively fired off a raw piece about the diagnosis that shook up my life.
Sharing weakness is not something I’m good at. I’d always attributed that to my upbringing. My dad and uncles could have been characters in a Hemingway novel. It turns out my blame was misplaced. I won’t go into that here though. Read my story.
Even if you don’t read my story, read Blanket Gravity Magazine. It’s completely free. I promise, there will be something there you can relate to.
